A few months ago our Magazine had already announced the auctioning of ’s Manifesto of Surrealism at auction house in Paris.
At long last, the sale took place on 21st May achieving great results. Indeed, the auction dedicated to books, manuscripts and photographs, which included some of ’s works, fetched 6,052,780 euros. An extraordinary sale whose absolute protagonists were the French’s poets manuscripts, presented for the first time on the art market and belonging to a collection of the writer’s first wife, Simone Collinet.

BRETON’S ORIGINAL SURREALIST MANIFESTO AT AUCTION

breton_manoscritto_sothebys_home.jpgAndré Breton ‘s surrealist Manifesto will go on sale at a Sotheby’s auction in Paris next week on 20th May 2008, along with other unedited manuscripts of the French poet presented for the first time on the art market and belonging to the writer’s first wife, Simone Collinet. The 21 page manuscript from the 1924 Manifesto is estimated by experts to be from between 300,000 and 500,000 euros and they define the cardinal lines of surrealist beliefs.
