DOCUMENTA ART SHOW NAMES CHRISTOV-BAKARGIEV DIRECTOR FOR 2012

Documenta, the contemporary art show that takes place every five years in the German city of Kassel, named Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev as director of the 2012 event.
Christov-Bakargiev is currently chief curator at the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art in Turin and was artistic director of the 2008 Sydney Biennale.
“Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev is a real power woman who will without a doubt master the Documenta challenge,” Silke Lautenschlaeger, the Minister of Social Affairs in the state of Hesse, said today in an e-mailed statement. “This internationally renowned curator will give Documenta bright new impulses.”
The 2007 Documenta was curated by Roger Buergel and Ruth Noack. (Bloomberg)

ITALIAN WAVE: ARTISSIMA PRESENTS A PROJECT FOR YOUNG ITALIAN TALENTS

has presented a new project, a competition aimed at launching on the International market young Italian artists aged under 35. The project emerges from fifteen years of experience in the field of contemporary art, experience of international rank that has made become a reference appointment for Italian and foreign galleries that deal in contemporary art.
The last edition, the first directed by , had set itself the ambitious objective of being really International and proposing new young talents. The appointment was met with great success by the critics and the public: 43,000 people present, fully booked for conferences and debates, and important purchases realized even for the foreign market.
